As a business owner, I must ask 100 people each week if they will take time out of their day and write a review for my business. In turn, I also write a fair number of reviews for others, because I understand how much value the various search engines place on these reviews.
My company recently completed a remodel for one of our customers and after the dust had settled, I asked “Jim” if he would be willing to write a review. He said he would and I promptly went on with my life. A few days later, Jim sent me a copy of his review (and I’m glad he did, because Google decided not to allow it to be posted) and man was I blown away with his words.
Read for yourself and you decide if this is not the “unicorn” of all reviews! Thanks again Jim.
I noticed a large stain on the ceiling near the kitchen and it slowly got larger. I had a local contractor come over and look at it but, believe it or not, I couldn’t get them to actually do anything! I found Sunset Builders and Maintenance online and I contacted them. A man came to the house that same day or the next and looked at the stain and offered to dig right in and see what was going on up there. First he checked the roof of the house and found no obvious leaks. Then he opened up the ceiling and diagnosed that the problem was leaking copper pipes. He showed me pictures etc. He said that the house probably needed a complete re-pipe. Sunset got the plumbing subcontractor and gave me a firm price for all of the work including complete re-pipe of the entire house along with all of the tear down and final repair of all the plaster ceiling and walls. They warned me that the repairs might not exactly and perfectly meld in with the original stuff but in the end, I have to say that nobody could possibly tell that there had been demolition and repair.
What I really liked was that Sunset delt with the subcontractors and I did not have to do that and of course, I have no expertise anyway.
I told the first fellow from Sunset that since we are re-piping the whole house, I had started the process of redoing and upgrading both of the bathrooms in the house but I had put that on hold a year prior and so I asked if Sunset would take charge of the two bathrooms also? Yes, he said they would and we started the process. I had a decorator helping me and asked if Sunset would work with her and yes, they said they could definitely do that. I met Marc and he gave me written contract type firm cost for each phase of the projects and everything was in writing and clearly gone over with me and my decorator etc.. I was very happy working with Marc and all of his many employees who did all of the carpentry, HVAC and all other nonsubcontractor things. Really quality work in my opinion. They worked out all of the logistics and timetables and we stayed pretty much on schedule all the way through although there was a delay now and then for supply chain issues and for subcontractor errors that Sunset would not accept and required to be redone. Sunset held every subcontractor to expert and very high standards (I wouldn’t have known nor would I have been able to authoritatively tell any subcontractor to re-do this or that!).
They were timely and on schedule and totally in communication with me all the way through. We stayed completely on budget but with a couple of changes I made along the way. Marc sent me change papers with cost etc., almost immediately each time I made a change. I’m impressed with the quality of all the work and the supervision Sunset supplied.
I have retained Sunset for several other projects for both the house and another property I have. Same experience each time.
I think that these people could do anything from fix the garbage disposal to building a mansion and anywhere in between; I really do. I was fine with the total cost of each and all of my projects. The cost always came in within my imagined estimates.
Let me know if you would like any other information and good luck with your projects! ~Jim S.
